EKITI: Chief Judge Adeyeye dies at 64

Justice Adeyeye, who was inaugurated as the Chief Judge of Ekiti State on October 11, 2021, died yesterday at the age of 64.

In a statement released today, Governor Biodun Oyebanji expressed that the loss of Justice Adeyeye is both heartbreaking and a significant loss for the state.

The statement from the governor was issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode.

“This is undeniably a tremendous loss for our beloved state. On behalf of the Government and people of Ekiti State, I extend my condolences to the family of the late Hon. Justice Adeyeye, praying that the Almighty will provide them with comfort and grant eternal rest to the departed,” the governor stated.

Governor Oyebanji further noted that the passing of Justice Adeyeye represents the loss of a vital pillar in the Judiciary of Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.

He characterized the late Justice as a steadfast and principled jurist who demonstrated unwavering commitment to equity and justice.

The governor acknowledged that Justice Adeyeye dedicated his life to fostering a strong and independent Judiciary, which played an important role in promoting good governance and protecting citizens’ rights.

Furthermore, he mentioned that Justice Adeyeye advocated for improved welfare for judicial officers and staff of the Ekiti State Judiciary to enhance service delivery and optimize the functioning of the justice system.

The governor offered prayers for strength for the late judge’s immediate and extended family, the community of Araromi Ugbesi in Ekiti East Local Government Area, and all members of the Bar and Bench in coping with their loss.

He encouraged the family to find solace in the significant impact and remarkable contributions made by the deceased to the justice sector and the overall progress of the state.
