Renowned Nigerian musician, Eldee The Don, has claimed his father made groundbreaking contributions to Nigeria’s technological development, highlighting that he was instrumental in connecting the country to the internet.

Speaking during an interview on the Adesope Live show, Eldee disclosed that his father established Nigeria’s first cyber cafe in Lagos.

Beyond this feat, he said his father also provided internet services to prominent clients, including major oil firms like Mobil and key government institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Eldee acknowledged that his father’s trailblazing efforts in the tech industry played a significant role in shaping his own career.

He noted that early exposure to technology gave him a creative edge in music production, allowing him to experiment with advanced tools and equipment that were uncommon at the time.

Reflecting on his father’s legacy, Eldee stated, “Thankfully, I had a dad who was in technology. My dad was a pioneer in his own space as well.

“That man [my Dad] was the first person to connect Nigeria to the internet. This is something people argue about because they don’t know his name. He wasn’t that guy who wanted to put himself out there.

“The very first cyber cafe in Lagos was set up by my dad. The very first connection for Mobil, CBN and government agencies, my dad was doing all of that.

“At that time, we had access to technology that wasn’t really available. So having all of that, I had a studio in our house where the music is being produced.
