The upcoming expansion for Elden Ring Nightreign, The Forskaen Hollows, was given a new trailer at the November 2025 PlayStation State of Play, revealing when the DLC will release and teasing some of the new bosses that will be featured. The co-op action roguelike’s DLC will also expand the roster of playable characters. This trailer comes shortly after a DLC release update gave fans hope that more information would come soon.

Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows will release on December 4, 2025, per the State of Play (Bandai Namco posted the trailer separately alongside its live reveal). The expansion will add fan-favorite Dark Souls boss Knight Artorias to the game, and will introduce Nightreign‘s first wave of content from Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, including the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss. The Forsaken Hollows also introduces two new Nightfarers to Nightreign: Scholar and Undertaker.

Where Is Sif? Is He Okay?

The biggest reveal in The Forsaken Hollows‘ trailer was the appearance of Knight Artorias, the Abysswalker. The eponymous character of the beloved Dark Souls expansion, Artorias of the Abyss, is one of FromSoftware’s most iconic boss fights. Artorias will join Nightreign‘s extensive, punishing boss roster, and will be joined in The Forsaken Hollows by two new Nightlords.

The PlayStation Blog has also subsequently confirmed that The Forsaken Hollows does not feature a new map, but another Shifting Earth variant of Limveld. It appears to be based on Elden Ring‘s underground regions, specifically those around the Eternal Cities of Nokstella and Nokron. Following this theme, The Forsaken Hollows also brings Astel to the game, a boss with two variants in Elden Ring. Astel joins the Divine Beast Dancing Lion and numerous other enemies from Shadow of the Erdtree in the expansion.

Since its release, Nightreign has featured eight playable characters, but two new ones will join the fray with the release of The Forsaken Hollows on December 4. Here are the PlayStation Blog‘s brief description of the two new Nightfarers:

Scholar: An academic who walks the Lands Between. Boasting impressive arcane levels, he gains incredible advantages through battlefield observation.

Undertaker: An abbess who was mandated to slay the Nightlord. Boasting impressive strength and faith, she sends enemies to the afterlife with ruthless efficiency.

In the trailer, the Undertaker is shown using one of her special abilities to fly and smash into Astel, stunning the cosmic beast. The Scholar’s quick clip has him flipping through a magical tome before imparting some kind of status effect on himself and nearby enemies. Just like with the original Nightfarers earlier this year, it’s likely that each will be spotlighted before The Forsaken Hollows‘ release, giving greater insight into their playstyles.

The Forsaken Hollows is included in the Elden Ring Nightreign Deluxe and Seekers editions. For those who bought the standard edition of Nightreign, The Forsaken Hollows costs $15, and is already available for purchase. Elden Ring Nightreign has seen a steady supply of updates since its release earlier this year, but The Forsaken Hollows will be by far the most transformative addition to the game.
