Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on Monday, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Senator John Kojo-Brambaifa, describing him as an illustrious son of the state and a distinguished figure in Nigerian politics.
Naijaonpoint reports that Brambaifa, who represented Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 5th National Assembly, died on Saturday at an Abuja hospital at the age of 81.
In a condolence message issued to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, Governor Diri praised Brambaifa for his remarkable contributions to public service.
“Bayelsa and Nigeria have lost an elder statesman, amiable gentleman, astute politician and a great community leader,” the governor said.
“Brambaifa left a legacy of unblemished and committed service to Nigeria, the old Rivers State, Bayelsa and indeed his community. On behalf of the Government of Bayelsa State, I extend sincere condolences to the Brambaifa family and the Agbere community in Sagbama Local Government Area, where he hailed from.”
The governor urged the late senator’s family and community to find comfort in his meritorious service and a career marked by integrity and commitment.
Naijaonpoint reports that until his passing, Senator Brambaifa served as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture in Bassambiri, Nembe Local Government Area.
He was also a former Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Council during the era of the old Rivers State, and had previously led the Bayelsa State Board of Internal Revenue, further cementing his legacy as a devoted public servant.
Governor Diri described Brambaifa as an astute politician who had consistently distinguished himself in both public office and community leadership, leaving a lasting impact on Bayelsa State and the nation at large.
“His remarkable public and political career is a testament to his dedication and love for his people,” the governor said, urging Bayelsans to honour his memory by building on his legacy.
