Errol Musk, the father of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, has made outrageous and baseless claims about former U.S. President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, echoing long-debunked conspiracy theories.

The elder Musk, who was raised under South Africa’s racist Apartheid regime, alleged in a recent discussion that Barack Obama is “queer” and that Michelle Obama is “really a man.” According to him, he has so-called “evidence” to support his claims—though his sources are questionable at best.

Errol Musk’s Bizarre “Research”

Musk claims that his so-called findings stem from “research” conducted on the internet, where he allegedly came across a video of Michelle Obama wearing a tracksuit. In this video, he insists that an outline in her clothing supposedly proves she is male. He went so far as to make crude and offensive remarks about the former First Lady’s appearance, stating that the video showed Michelle’s “9-inch schlong.”

This conspiracy theory is not new. For years, far-right circles and internet trolls have attempted to push the false narrative that Michelle Obama is transgender, despite zero evidence supporting such claims. The theory has been thoroughly debunked by reputable fact-checkers, and it has been widely condemned as a racist and misogynistic attack on the Obamas.

A History of Controversy

Errol Musk is no stranger to making controversial and offensive statements. Over the years, he has been at the center of several scandals, including his own admission of having a child with his stepdaughter, whom he had helped raise since she was a young girl. His strained relationship with his son, Elon Musk, has also been well-documented, with Elon describing his father as a “terrible human being” in past interviews.

Given his past remarks and behavior, it’s not entirely surprising that Errol Musk would embrace and spread widely debunked conspiracy theories. However, the fact that he continues to use his platform to amplify hateful rhetoric raises concerns about the spread of misinformation and bigotry.

The Obamas and Their Legacy

Despite relentless attacks from conspiracy theorists and political opponents, Michelle and Barack Obama remain two of the most respected figures in modern American history. Barack Obama made history as the first Black President of the United States, serving two successful terms from 2009 to 2017. Michelle Obama, known for her grace, intelligence, and advocacy work, continues to be a role model and leader in education, health, and social justice initiatives.

The spread of falsehoods like those promoted by Errol Musk is part of a larger trend of disinformation and smear campaigns targeting prominent public figures. While social media has made it easier for baseless theories to circulate, it has also led to stronger efforts by journalists and fact-checkers to push back against such falsehoods.

A Pattern of Internet Misinformation

Errol Musk’s reliance on unverified internet sources highlights a growing issue in today’s digital age—the ease with which conspiracy theories can be manufactured and believed without critical scrutiny. The internet is full of manipulated videos, misleading content, and outright fabrications that feed into existing prejudices and biases.

Public figures, particularly those with influence, have a responsibility to fact-check information before spreading it. By carelessly repeating false claims, Errol Musk contributes to a culture of misinformation that fuels division and hatred.

Final Thoughts

While Errol Musk’s comments are undoubtedly offensive and baseless, they are not surprising given his history of controversy. The Obamas have long been targets of racist and unfounded conspiracy theories, yet they have continued to rise above such attacks with dignity and poise.

The incident serves as yet another reminder of the importance of media literacy and critical thinking in an era where misinformation spreads rapidly. As conspiracy theories continue to surface, it remains crucial to rely on credible sources and reject baseless claims designed to undermine and defame individuals who have made significant contributions to society.
