SENIOR Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has surrendered to the police amid allegations of multiple rape and other offences capable of disturbing public peace, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed.
The case has been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.
Okafor’s surrender followed his failure to honour an earlier invitation by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, despite being scheduled to appear on Monday.
Speaking in an interview with TVC today, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, explained that the pastor initially contacted the police through his lawyer and promised to report on Monday but failed to do so. He said this prompted an order for Okafor’s arrest, after which the pastor eventually presented himself yesterday.
Jimoh disclosed that investigations revealed the same case had already been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters and had been under investigation for about three weeks, prompting the Lagos Command to hand over the matter to the higher authority.
Addressing concerns raised by alleged victims, the police commissioner noted that social media has become an important platform for reporting complaints, stressing that the police now act swiftly in the public interest to prevent situations that could escalate into a breakdown of law and order.
The controversy surrounding Okafor began in mid-December 2025 when several allegations surfaced online.
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala accused the pastor of maintaining a prolonged sexual relationship with her since 2017, alleging broken promises of marriage, the sharing of explicit content, and actions that contributed to the collapse of her previous marriage.
As public pressure mounted, Okafor reportedly addressed his congregation on December 28, 2025, where he apologised for past “mistakes” and knelt before the pulpit to seek forgiveness.
Reports have also indicated that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is considering disciplinary measures against the pastor, who has stepped aside from his pastoral duties pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that adequate security has been provided for the alleged victims, while investigations at SCID, Panti, and Zone 2 continue.
