Emirates airline has announced plans to resume flights to Nigeria, after a two-year suspension of operations on the route.
Naijaonpoint recalls that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stopped issuing visas to Nigerians in 2022 after the Emirates suspended flights between the two nations over several issues, including unresolved trapped funds belonging to the airline.
The airline has been popular with Nigerian customers in the past, and Emirates said it hopes to reconnect travellers to Dubai and onwards to more than 140 destinations with its resumption of services.
However, in a statement on Thursday, the airline’s Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said that they are excited to resume their services to Nigeria.
Kazim expressed excitement to the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route.
The statement reads, “We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. We thank the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route, and we look forward to welcoming passengers back on board.”
The suspension is coming following a meeting last September between President Bola Tinubu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
