Human Rights lawyer, Effiong Inibehe, has claimed that the recent airport incident involving veteran Fuji singer, King Wasiu Ayinde, better known as KWAM1, was handled differently because he is friends with President Bola Tinubu.

Naijaonpoint reports that Inibehe, during an interview with Channels TV, stated that KWAM1’s public apology lacks credibility, emphasising that every inmate in the custodial centres would also like to be allowed to apologise for their wrongdoing to secure freedom.

While insisting that KWAM1 committed a crime and must be tried for it, Effiong argued that if the government wants to go that route, notorious kidnapper, Evans, who is currently in prison, has apologised for his crimes, adding that the government should forgive him and discontinue his incarceration.

The lawyer also stated that KWAM1 dared to threaten the owner of ValueJet because he is connected to the high and mighty.

In his words, “I doubt if there is any inmate in Kirikiri that is not willing to offer an apology to be freed. Evans the convicted kidnapper has apologized, let them government free him since Nigeria is now setting free people who violate the law on an apology.

“I saw Abike Erewa saying to Err is human. So if apology is now the national policy for being free after going against the law, all Nigerians should be given the same opportunity.

“What KWAM1 did cannot be tolerated. Do you know what he was so audacious? He is a friend of the President. He is connected to the high and mighty. You would have also seen the audio circulating where he allegedly threatened the owner of the airline. What do you think emboldens him? Because impunity has become our culture”
