Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham was left emotional at the premiere of her movie.
Kemi Filani reported last week that the filmmaker, raised the bar as she rolled out the invitation for her movie’s premiere. Making things different, Toyin had given out foodstuffs rather than using the invitation box.
On Sunday, November 14th, Toyin premiered her much-anticipated movie, Oversabi Aunty, at IMAX Cinema.
As expected, the premiere was star-studded with the likes of Adesua Etomi, Iyabo Ojo, Juma Jux, Priscillia Ojo, Chioma Good Hair, Chizzy Alichi, Nancy Isime, Mike Ezurounye, Odunlade Adekola, Uti Nwachukwu, Aisha Lawal, Toke Makinwa, Lola Idije, Veekee James and husband, Muyiwa Ademola, Nkechi Blessing, Bisola Aiyeola, Salami Rotimi, Mercy Eke and others, in attendance.
One of the highlights from the premiere was when Abraham broke down in tears.
Back in June, Toyin had declared herself a prophet while sharing a screenshot of a message she received from a therapist who praised her movies for being therapeutic. Abraham said she doesn’t just shoot movies; she is a prophet who speaks to people through her movies.
Early this year, Abraham had achieved a new milestone as her latest cinema movie, Alakada Bad and Boujee, gets ranked the 5th highest grossing Nollywood release of all time.
In March, Silverbird honored the actress with a Trailblazer award at the 2024 Silverbird Man of the Year award for being fearless, dynamic and redefining Nollywood.
To celebrate her win, Toyin penned a heartfelt note on Instagram, noting how the award is a reminder that hard work, perseverance, and passion never go unnoticed. She noted that the journey hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has shaped her.
In a previous post, she made it known that she was her own competition as she expressed gratitude to her fans and everyone who has supported her projects.
Last year, Toyin had slammed a fan of Funke Akindele, for putting down her hard work. She expressed how tired she was of people putting down her hard work.
