Former presidential Candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore verified this by alleging via X that officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force have been harassing demonstrators at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja. According to Sowore, government-sponsored thugs were expected to participate in the attack and there were signs of people coming at the area to target protestors. Sowore stated, “BREAKING: @PoliceNG arrive scene of Abuja #EndBadGovernaceInNigerianow to attack activists, @OfficialDSSNG on their way too with govt sponsored thugs to do the same thing”. Deji Adeyanju, a lawyer and activist, has confirmed Sowore’s allegations by attesting to the fact that police are actually harassing protestors at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abujah. Adeyanju said in X: “The police are currently harassing protestors at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.” Starting on Thursday, August 1, the statewide demonstration shows the discontent of Nigerians about the current challenges and suffering all around.
