The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports claiming it held meetings with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over securing an automatic governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party’s Secretary, Alhaji Zakari Sarina, dismissed the reports in a telephone interview, describing them as baseless rumours allegedly spread by “enemies of Kano” to destabilise the state’s political environment.
According to Arise TV, Sarina said the APC had never discussed any form of automatic ticket arrangement with the governor, stressing that such claims were false and misleading.
He added that the party remains open to welcoming the governor whenever he decides to join, but insisted that no secret assurances or negotiations had taken place.
The APC scribe urged party supporters and members of the public to disregard speculations aimed at creating unnecessary tension, saying the party was focused on governance, unity and development in Kano State.
Sarina assured that the APC would continue to work towards a smooth and inclusive political process, as discussions about future political alignments remain speculative and unconfirmed.
