Speaking on News Central TV, Utomi shared a startling anecdote from former Kaduna Governor Nasir El Rufai.
He recounted traveling by train from Abuja to Kaduna, only to learn later that the journey was closely monitored from a helicopter due to security threats along the route. “The governor himself said to me, ‘Look, even the train you came on, we were monitoring from a helicopter,’” Utomi said.
He warned that denying or downplaying such incidents won’t fix the problem. Instead, he called for honest recognition of the security crisis and stronger government action to reclaim control. Utomi stressed that a functioning state must govern all its territory and use force to protect its citizens, warning against the dangers of ungoverned spaces where terrorists operate freely.
