Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his elation following Fulham’s impressive 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night.
Fulham had endured a rough start to their Premier League campaign and entered the London derby against Tottenham as slight underdogs.
However, they demonstrated real quality to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a well-deserved three points.
Super Eagles winger Chukwueze was the standout performer on the night. Recall that just last week, he came off the bench to provide the assist for Fulham’s lone goal against Sunderland, yet coach Marco Silva still demanded to see more from him before handing him a starting shirt.
Surprisingly, Silva gave Chukwueze a place in the starting eleven, and the decision proved to be an inspired one.
The Super Eagles star provided yet another assist, setting up Tete’s opening goal. Chukwueze could have even scored earlier in the first half, but he fluffed his lines.

Overall, it was a solid performance from the AC Milan loanee. He looked electric whenever he had the ball and contributed significantly to the team’s defensive shift. It was no surprise that he was eventually awarded the Man of the Match award.
What Samuel Chukwueze Said After His MOTM Performance For Fulham
Speaking after the game, Samuel Chukwueze noted that his performance was simply the product of the work he has put into his game in recent months. He also expressed his elation with the result and praised the efforts of his teammates.
“I wasn’t expecting it today. But I was focusing on doing the hard work,” Chukwueze told Sky Sports, per Jack Kelly.
“Last months have been a bit difficult but I kept my head down and kept working, and I took the opportunity today.
“They push me really hard in training and keep me motivated. We are so proud of the result today. We worked for it in the training pitch.
“The players gave everything on the field. We had to defend with all our life. This win is very, very important.”
Chukwueze’s performance against Tottenham would definitely have impressed coach Marco Silva. However, there is very little time to dwell on that.
Next up up the Cottagers is a game against Manchester City on Tuesday, and they will be hoping to claim the victory.
