Super Eagles attacker Samuel Chukwueze has opened up on the factors that convinced him to swap AC Milan for Fulham, Soccernet.ng reports.
The former Villarreal forward singled out Fulham manager Marco Silva as well as the presence of his international teammates Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey as key reasons behind his decision.
Chukwueze completed a deadline-day loan switch from AC Milan to Craven Cottage, with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Samuel Chukwueze on Silva’s Persuasion
Speaking after sealing the move, Chukwueze revealed that Silva’s personal approach played a decisive role in bringing him to West London.
“He was the one who called me, he was the one who convinced me, who showed me the tactics and all,” Chukwueze told Fulham FC TV. “He called me and made sure this is how they are going to see to my pattern and he assured me about everything. So, assuring me convinced me to be here. He is a nice coach, and I think his style of play suits me very well. Him talking to me for hours shows he actually needs me in the team.”

Surrounded by Friends at Fulham
Beyond the manager’s influence, Chukwueze admitted that having close friends and compatriots at the club also made the transition easier.
“I am so happy to be here. I have my friends (Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi) around, so I think it’s an amazing club. It feels like home, I have my people around me, so I feel at home already and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

Reunion with Iwobi and Bassey
On reuniting with Iwobi and Bassey on the pitch, the winger added:
“I can’t wait to see them, I can’t wait to play with them in this great club. They are fun to be with, they are great and professional at what they do. So, having them around me, I think it’s going to help me a lot.”
Premier League Dream
The 26-year-old, who has previously played in Spain with Villarreal and in Italy with Milan, described the Premier League as the ultimate destination for any footballer.
“For me, I think I can’t wait to get started. It’s everyone’s dream to play in the Premier League. Every player wants to play in the Premier League. It is one of the best leagues in the whole world. For now, I am trying to settle and trying hard to get the rhythm and do what I know how to do best.”

Chukwueze could make his debut for Fulham after the international break, with Silva eager to integrate the Nigerian into his plans as quickly as possible.
