Ex-Atiku campaign coordinator dumps PDP, declares support for Tinubu ahead of 2027

A former North Central Coordinator of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign, Anngu Orngu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Orngu hailed Tinubu’s administration for initiating what he called “painful but necessary” economic and institutional reforms, which he believes are positioning Nigeria on the path to long-term stability and growth.

“President Tinubu is not paying lip service to the reformation of Nigeria. He is doing the hard and painful work of fixing a broken system,” Orngu said.

He specifically praised the removal of fuel subsidy, calling it one of the boldest moves of the Tinubu government.

According to him, the subsidy regime had only enriched a privileged few while impoverishing the nation.

His words: “Subsidy removal was not a popular decision, but it was the right one. It takes courage to confront decades-old structures of waste and abuse.”

Orngu, who also served as Senior Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Student Affairs, cited improved fiscal responsibility as another achievement of the current administration.

“No governor is borrowing to pay salaries today. That’s a sign that our public finances are stabilizing under President Tinubu,” he said.

Taking a swipe at his former principal, Atiku Abubakar, Orngu advised the former Vice President to “rest and stop acting like a juvenile political activist,” urging him to support the President’s nation-building efforts instead.

“This is a time for national rebuilding, not petty politics. Those who truly care about Nigeria should rally behind Tinubu’s vision,” he added.

Orngu concluded by calling on Nigerian youths to unite in support of the President’s re-election bid in 2027.

“The future belongs to us, and we must support the leader who is laying the groundwork for it. I call on all Nigerian youths to stand solidly behind President Tinubu to succeed,” he said.
