Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has publicly declared detailed instructions on how he wants to be buried, insisting that the Ekiti State Government must take full responsibility for his remains whenever he dies.

Fayose, who made the remarks in a six-minute video posted on YouTube by City Edge TV on Saturday, the day he turned 65, said death is inevitable and that he needed to put his wishes on record.

Speaking emphatically, Fayose said he had already written a letter to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, instructing the state government to take charge of his body and burial arrangements.

He said, “Remember me for anything. And when I die, let me say this: death is inevitable. My body belongs to the Ekiti State Government… I’m delivering a letter to the governor.”

The former governor added that regardless of when his death occurs in “20, 30, or 15 years”, the state must handle all burial processes.

Fayose directed that he must be buried within four weeks of his death, explaining that the government may require time for preparations.

“The Ekiti State Government takes over my body, and I must be buried within four weeks. Because the state might not be ready within two, three days, we allow them four weeks,” he stated.

The former governor further instructed his children not to participate in any special mourning rituals but to simply comply with the state’s directives.

“My children should wear their own clothes and follow the directives of the government at the time of my death,” he said.

Fayose disclosed that his final resting place would be at his grandmother’s home, where he has already prepared a burial garden.

He said, “My grandmother’s home, the mother of my father, I’ve made the garden there. I should be laid to rest there.”

He added that the gravesite must not become a shrine or a place of visitation.

“After my departure, nobody must come there again. Allow me to go. If you want to show me love, if you want to take care of me, do so now,” he warned.
