Ex-local government chairmen deny endorsing Barau for 2027

APC

The Association of Former Local Government Chairmen in Kano State has denied a social media report claiming they endorsed Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin as the APC governorship candidate for 2027.

The chairman of the group, Hon. Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, said the story was false and completely made up. He asked APC members in Kano and across Nigeria to ignore it.

Farawa explained that at the time the alleged endorsement meeting was said to have taken place in Abuja, the former chairmen were actually in Kano attending their regular meeting.

“It is surprising and frankly laughable that anyone would claim we held a meeting in Abuja while we were clearly in Kano,” he said.

He noted that the APC has a clear leadership structure led by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and only the party’s recognized leaders can decide the process for selecting candidates.

Farawa criticised those spreading misinformation, saying such actions only create confusion within the party. He called on members to stay united as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.

Recently, former members of the Kano State House of Assembly and former commissioners who served under Ganduje also dismissed similar claims, stating they never endorsed Senator Barau for the 2027 race.
