Former Manchester United forward Adnan Januzaj has congratulated Nigerian striker Akor Adams, following his debut goal for Sevilla in their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano at Campo de Futbol de Vallecas on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Adams unlocked a new achievement on Sunday, as he scored his first-ever Spanish La Liga goal, nine months after moving to the league from France.

The Nigerian striker was a 69th minute substitute, and he rewarded coach Matias Almeyda for giving him game time.

Adams scored the winning goal for Los Nervioneses with a beautiful strike in the 87th minute.

Following his goal, former Manchester United player Adnan Januzaj, who is also at Sevilla, took to social media to congratulate Adams for his goal.

On Instagram, the Belgian posted a picture of himself with Adams and wrote, “Happy for you my brother strong.”

Januzaj started his career at Manchester United - grew from the academy and broke into the first team.

At the time he broke out, Januzaj was one of the most exciting young players in the world. However, the now-30-year-old failed to live up to the potential and ended up leaving Old Trafford in 2017, after multiple loan spells.

Akor Adams Has To Keep Scoring

Akor Adams’ goal at Rayo Vallecano was his first in Spanish football. But he has to continue in that stead, he has to keep scoring.

There is stiff competition for a starting shirt in Los Nervioneses attack, which means that anyone who slacks will get dropped.

Next up for Sevilla is an extremely difficult fixture against league champions Barcelona. But Los Nervioneses will still be hoping to nick something from the tie.
