Dr. Paul Orhii, former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Orhii, who was a PDP governorship aspirant in Benue during the 2019 and 2023 general elections, announced that he has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a letter addressed to the chairman of the Atirkyese council ward in Ushongo LGA of Benue state, Orhii said his decision followed wide consultations.
“After intensive consultations with my family, friends, thousands of my supporters and political associates locally, nationally, and globally, I have decided to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” he said.
He explained that his defection to the ADC was driven by a desire to align with a coalition of Nigerians focused on what he described as a national rescue mission.
“This is to enable me join the coalition of other progressive-minded Nigerians in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the rescue mission,” Orhii said.
While announcing his departure from the PDP, he expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity it gave him to serve Nigeria.
“I truly remain eternally grateful to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that gave me the opportunity to serve my country Nigeria at the highest level,” he said.
