Former North-West Zonal Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hajia Halima Yunusa Kajuru, has resigned her membership of the party.
In a statement sighted by DAILYPOST dated 29th August 2025 and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Kajuru, Kaduna State, Halima said her resignation takes immediate effect.
She also enclosed her membership card as a confirmation of her decision.
“I wish to notify the Party Chairman of my decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” she wrote.
Halima recalled that she had served the PDP in different capacities, including her election as North-West Zonal Women Leader in 2019, a position she said she held with dignity and selfless service.
“The Chairman may note that I have had the opportunity of serving the Peoples Democratic Party in different capacity until the last of which I was elected the North-West Zonal Women Leader in 2019. Position I held with dignity and selfless service even at a point where we had no government and have influenced a lot of decisions and mobilized so many members and voters to the party,” she noted.
Halima also pointed to her role in mobilizing support during the 16th August 2025 by-elections, which she described as a case study of the party’s strength.
She expressed appreciation to the PDP for giving her the platform to serve.
“I wish to appreciate the party for founding me worthy of such services rendered this far. Accept my esteem regards, please,” the letter concluded.
She, however, failed disclose her next political step.
