The remains of former president, Muhammadu Buhari, have been taken to Daura in Katsina State for burial.
Naijaonpoint reports that the body which had earlier arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, was received by President Bola Tinubu.
Buhari’s body, draped in the Nigerian flag, was brought down from the Nigerian Air Force aircraft by officials of the Nigerian Military at the airport.
It was accompanied by service chiefs and top politicians, who had thronged the airport before the body touched down in a Nigerian Air Force jet.
The body was accompanied by Vice President, Kassim Shetima and some members of Buhari’s immediate family, including Aisha, his wife.
The body was conveyed by a NAF hearse by road to Daura, Buhari’s hometown, after a brief airport ceremony conducted by the Nigerian military.
Naijaonpoint understands that hundreds of Nigerians had gathered since dawn to pay their last respects to the former president of Nigeria.
In other news, the nephew of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, Mamman Daura, has revealed that the Nigerian leader was in high spirits just hours before his death on Sunday in London.
Speaking in an interview with ThisDay, Daura recounted his last moments with Buhari at the London Clinic, where the 82-year-old had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Daura said he spent Saturday evening with the late President, who appeared full of life and hopeful about returning to Nigeria within the week.
