Ex-UK Envoy Christopher Kolade Dies At 92

Veteran broadcaster, diplomat, and corporate leader, Christopher Kolade, has died at the age of 92.

His family, in a statement on Thursday, confirmed that the former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and ex-Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

The family stated, “We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings.”

Born in 1932 in Erin-Oke, Osun State, to an Anglican missionary father, Kolade lived a life defined by service, discipline, and integrity. He attended Government College, Ibadan, before proceeding to Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone, for his higher education.

He began his career in broadcasting, rising to become Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, where he was celebrated for professionalism and ethical standards.

Kolade later moved into the corporate sector, becoming Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, where his leadership and corporate reforms earned him widespread respect.

As Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Kolade represented the country with distinction, further cementing his reputation as a statesman.

His contributions extended into academia, where he taught Corporate Governance and Human Resources Management at Lagos Business School and Leadership and Conflict Management at the School of Media & Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos.

He also served as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Pan-Atlantic University, before later becoming Chancellor of McPherson University, Ogun State.

Kolade remained deeply committed to promoting integrity in public and private life. He chaired organisations such as Integrity Organisation Ltd GTE and The Convention on Business Integrity Ltd GTE, driving campaigns for ethical reforms in business and governance.
