Former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is this morning appearing before the Constitutional Court in a case where Michelo Chizombe is questioning the eligibility of Lungu’s candidacy in the 2021 polls.
Lungu arrived at the court while franked with Patriotic Front (PF) top officials.
“I have arrived at the Supreme Court grounds here in Lusaka where, I am attending a Constitutional Court hearing on a matter brought by a Mr Michelo Chizombe in which he is contending whether I was eligible to stand in the election of 12th August 2021 and future elections,” wrote Lungu.
Mr Chizombe also wants the court to declare that the ex President is not eligible to contest future elections since he has already served twice.
Mr Lungu is the first respondent in the matter where Mr Sangwa was joined as friend of the court.
