Former president Edgar Lungu has described his successor, President Hakainde Hichilema as a lacuna.

Addressing the media at the PF Secretariat in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Lungu blasted the Head of State for suspending three Constitutional Court judges.

He said instead of firing judges, the President should have been addressing the high cost of living Zambians are grappling with.

“I know that the man has missed it because right now he would have been dealing with the issue of the cost of living. He should have been dealing with load shedding, he should have been answering some of the questions I raised that why can’t you talk to Mozambique to say tipasenikoni malaiti bane tavutika?” he wondered.

“You know; the man is a lacuna. And I reading Latin, in Latin lacuna means blank, so the man is blank.”
Meanwhile, Mr Lungu added that PF remains in UKA.

“We remain in UKA as PF. We have appointed a nine-man committee to look into our relationship with UKA and on the 5th of September, they will be reporting to the central committee on their findings. In terms of reference includes how PF should relate with other political parties and how we can get a good deal with our friends in these political parties,” he said.

“Of course, the viral disrespectful remarks and things like that should not bother us very much in PF because we are more mature than those who peddle that kind of thing. Because you see, when you are a leader at the level I am, including where my friend lacuna is, you shouldn’t bother too much about what people say, insult!ng you and… it is normal, that is the office you occupy.”

The former president added that “when you are in that office they will call you all sorts of names, they will ins@lt your m0ther…but you should have a big heart to say I will not act on that.”

He said he considers himself as one of the big guys in UKA and disclosed that he would engage leader of the Socialist Party Fred M’membe and Zambia Must Prosper president Kelvin Fube Bwalya on how they can work together.

“For me in UKA, I consider myself as one of the big guys because obviously I am the only former president there and I can take it within my strides when I am called names… we have got all the commitment to see UKA succeed just as much as we would want to see the opposition come together including my good friend Dr Fred M’membe, who hasn’t gone on the other side,” he said.

“So, since Dr Fred M’membe is still available, we will be talking to him. And I think there are many others including KBF and other. We want to come together and ensure that we wrestle power out of this dictator’s hands.”
