Face tattoo: Don’t compare me to Asake, I look like Lil Wayne – Portable

Portable is known for many things, including his multiple face tattoos that enhance his bold appearance.

Recently, Grammy-nominated star Asake became the latest Nigerian music artist to get his face inked, understandably generating fans’ reactions.

Among the responses to Asake’s new body art was a comparison to Portable’s face tattoo. However, the street pop star is not pleased with this comparison and has voiced his objections. In his typical blunt manner, Portable took to his social media to request that fans stop likening his face tattoos to Asake’s.

He insists instead that he should be compared to the American hip-hop star Lil Wayne, who is also famous for his facial tattoos.

“No dey use me compare Asake,” he said in Pidgin English. In a three-minute video, during which he spoke extensively in Yoruba, Portable emphasized that he does not resemble Asake; rather, he sees himself as looking like Lil Wayne, an international superstar and the head of Young Money.

He made it expressly clear that he does not look like Kodak Black, another artist known for his facial tattoos, but identifies more with Lil Wayne, whom he considers a role model in the music industry. Portable further claimed that Asake is the one trying to emulate him by copying his facial art.

In his post, he also mentioned that he is now a superstar in business with Sony Music, referencing his recent post thanking the label for facilitating his royalties from his hit collaboration with Skepta.

Known for his many public disputes with both the law and his colleagues, Portable took the opportunity to boast about being an innovative star burdened by his own success, while advising other artists to stop imitating his style.
