Fackham Hall: First Look At Harry Potter Stars In Downton Abbey Parody

Fans of Downton Abbey or Harry Potter may be intrigued by the first-look images from the upcoming period romance parody movie Fackham Hall. Fackham Hall stars Harry Potter‘s Tom Felton and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them‘s Katherine Waterston, as well as Ben Radcliffe (The Witcher) and Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Last Night in Soho), among others.

Fackham Hall is about a porter, Eric (Radcliffe), at an English manor who has a forbidden romance with Rose Davenport (McKenzie), when a murder mystery strikes and the young man is the prime suspect. Now, Collider has debuted some first-look images from Fackham Hall, revealing Felton and Waterston’s characters with the rest of the cast.

Fackham Hall is directed by Jim O’Hanlon and co-written by comedian Jimmy Carr (who also stars) with Patrick Carr, Andrew Dawson, Steve Dawson, and Tim Inman. The movie is slated to hit theaters at the beginning of December 2025, with Waterston playing Lady Davenport and Felton Eric’s rival for Rose’s hand in marriage.

This movie is coming a few months after the Downton Abbey saga reached its end with the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. The period drama defined the genre for a decade and a half, and it has already found its more serious replacement in creator Julian Fellowes’ new series The Gilded Age. However, O’Hanlon emphasized to Collider the potential in Fackham Hall being a parody, saying:

What I loved about the script was that it was both a hilariously funny, brilliantly inventive parody of British period dramas like Downton Abbey or Gosford Park, but also, at the same time, very much it’s own thing — I found myself rooting for Rose and Eric, the young couple at the centre of the forbidden romance, but at the same time laughing out loud at the ludicrousness and craziness of the shenanigans going on around them. I thought if we can get audiences doing the same, then we’re on to a winner.

Like most of the Harry Potter cast, Felton remains best known for his Wizarding World role, though he has expanded his career since the saga’s end in 2011. His credits now also include Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Flash, Ophelia, and Altered. However, he will also soon be playing Draco Malfoy again in Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Waterston appears in the three movies of the unfinished Harry Potter spinoff series as American Auror Tina Goldstein, but is more established as an actor elsewhere. She is also known for Babylon, Slow Horses, Alien: Covenant, and Inherent Vice. O’Hanlon also expressed how Fackham Hall‘s casting choices were vital to its comedy, saying:

A great deal of the comedy of Fackham Hall comes from the gap between the ludicrousness of the plot and dialogue and the action, and how seriously the characters appear to be taking the whole enterprise. So it was a very deliberate choice to cast actors who could just as feasibly appear in a “real,” British period drama, and to get them to play everything as straight as possible […]

Thus, Felton, Waterston, and the rest’s dramatic acting chops are essential to Fackham Hall, and their taking the ridiculous nature of the way narrative is presented seriously will surely be comedy gold. After Downton Abbey‘s conclusion, people may be looking for a straight-faced replacement, but a parody may be even better, prompting genuine reflection on the genre.
