Fake Army officer arrested in Zambia

Zambia Army Military Police at Army Headquarters have apprehended a suspected scamm£r who had been posing as a Lieutenant in the Zambian Army.

The suspect, Edwin Chalenzeka, male aged 21 of Matero Township in Lusaka, is believed to have d£frauded multiple victims by exploiting their trust, promising them enlistment in the Zambia Army as Regular Officers. So far, two victims have come forward to report their experiences with the scamme£r.

The Military Police are urging any other individuals who may have been dupped by Edwin Chalenzeka, who has been using different names and phone numbers, among them Jimmy Kamano, Jacob Maurindi and Shuko Chalenzeka, to come forward and report the matter to the nearest police station or military establishment. The suspect has since been handed over to the Zambia Police Service for further investigation and prosecution.

This incident serves as a reminder for the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution when dealing with individuals claiming to be Army personnel, especially online or over the phone. It is important to verify the authenticity of such claims and avoid sharing personal information or financial details with strangers.

The Zambia Army has emphasised its commitment to upholding the integrity of the military and taking swift action against individuals who attempt to tarnish its reputation.
