A fan campaign to save Adam Driver’s Star Wars movie, The Hunt for Ben Solo, has begun, with a fan rally as part of the effort to save the film. The Hunt for Ben Solo was a proposed film taking place after the end of The Rise of Skywalker, developed by Driver and Steven Soderbergh. However, Disney cancelled the project.
The attempt to save the Star Wars sequel movie broadened over the weekend, with fan B.D. Neagle helping to get a Hunt for Ben Solo billboard up in Times Square on Saturday, October 25. In a post from balancedpadawan, the digital billboard can be seen sporting the phrases “No one’s ever really gone,” and “Hope lives. Ben is alive!“
The billboard appeared in Times Square every 28th minute of the hour. However, fans are now going even further to save The Hunt for Ben Solo, planning to rally during Disney shareholders’ Q4 meeting in the first half of November 2025. A post from sihayaspring indicates plans to protest at Disney’s main locations in both Burbank and NYC:
The film was originally greenlit by Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy, with a completed script attached to the project. It was ultimately axed in 2021, with Disney CEO Bob Iger and co-chairman Alan Bergman declining for the film to go into development. Its existence was officially confirmed by Driver in an October 2025 interview, years after development halted.
Had the movie been produced, it would have revealed Ben survived The Rise of Skywalker, when he was last seen saving Rey using the last of his force power. The movie would have followed him on a redemption arc, making up for the many wrongdoings and mistakes from the sequel trilogy. Yet, despite initial approval, it didn’t come to pass.
But it hasn’t stopped fans from trying to bring it back into development. This included flying a plane over Disney Studios in Burbank, California with a banner reading “SAVE #THEHUNTFORBENSOLO,” pushing to give the film a second shot at life. Given the massive push from fans, it’s clear many see The Hunt for Ben Solo as a missed opportunity.
For now, the only films in the Star Wars franchise with a release date are The Mandalorian and Grogu, for May 22, 2026, and Star Wars: Starfighter, coming May 28, 2027. However, fans are clearly planning to push for The Hunt for Ben Solo‘s production for quite some time, with their passion evident in all they’ve done to save it so far.
