Twitch streamer Fanfan is addressing the backlash she faced after being accused of making a racist joke at the Streamer Awards earlier this month.
During the ceremony, Fanfan compared fellow streamer Kai Cenat to music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. The joke quickly sparked criticism online and led many viewers to accuse her of making a racist joke. The moment circulated widely on social media.
Fanfan later responded to the controversy during a livestream with her fans, where she pushed back on claims that the comment was racist while still acknowledging mistakes in how it came across.
“I don’t see it as racist. I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that it was racist,” she said. “Listen, I’ve said a lot of racist s–t in my life, and that was not one of them. That was definitely not racist. It came from a running joke. That just shouldn’t have come from me, and I had bad delivery.”

She went on to explain the circumstances surrounding the moment, saying nerves and exhaustion played a major role in how the joke landed. According to Fanfan, she had been awake for more than a day and was overwhelmed by the pressure of being on stage.
“People who were more logical, they were saying, ‘If she noticed how, like, noticing how the crowd was reacting and noticing how Kai was reacting, she should’ve pivoted,’” she said. “But then again, like, I could say that, but like, in the moment, I was so f–king nervous, and I was already awake for, like, 26 hours, and I was just f–king dead.”
Fanfan also shared that she had been heavily involved behind the scenes at the event and was struggling to stay focused when it was time to present. She said she relied closely on the teleprompter and her prepared remarks during the show.

“And I was helping out a lot behind the scenes, and I just could not focus,” she said. “I was genuinely just f–king reading. There was a teleprompter on the camera, so I was just f–king reading off of my script. My script, which I wrote, by the way. In case you take that out of context again. My script, which I wrote.”
Several streamers have spoken out to condemn the joke.
