An old tweet has resurfaced of Nicki Minaj complaining about Spotify heavily promoting Drake but ignoring her releases.
“Spotify put drake’s face on every playlist but told me they’d have to teach me a lesson for playing my music 10 mins early on #QueenRadio. Even tho they’ve been giving away my music for free for years & I am one of the top Spotify artists of all time,” Nicki tweeted back in 2018.
At the time, Drake’s songs appeared on playlists seemingly out of his genre, including “Best of British,” “Massive Dance Hits,” and “Fresh Gospel.”
That year, his album Scorpion sold 732,000 copies.
Drake has just filed a lawsuit against Spotify, claiming the two companies conspired to bring him down by inflating Kendrick Lamar’s numbers.
Drizzy alleged the companies “engaged in conduct designed to artificially inflate the popularity of ‘Not Like Us’… including by licensing the song at drastically reduced rates to Spotify and using ‘bots’ to generate the false impression that the song was more popular than it was in reality.”
