WATCH THE VIDEO HERE A U.S. court has ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to release documents related to their investigations into President Bola Tinubu’s alleged ties to drug trafficking. However, the acting dean of the Faculty of Law at Chrisland University, Kayode Akinsola, has stated that President Tinubu is protected from prosecution by Section 308 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, which grants him immunity from civil and criminal proceedings while in office. Speaking in an interview yesterday, Akinsola emphasized that the President cannot face prosecution, even after the FBI and DEA make their findings public by May 2, 2025. The probe reportedly involves Tinubu and three others. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia had earlier instructed the FBI and DEA to release their investigative records concerning Tinubu’s alleged drug-related activities. In response, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga stated on social media that the reports contain no new revelations and do not indict the president. He added that legal teams are currently reviewing the court’s decision.
