FCCPC withdraws criminal case against MultiChoice after settlement

By Kunle Sanni –

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has withdrawn the criminal case it filed against MultiChoice Nigeria Limited and some of its top executives following an amicable resolution between both parties.

At the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, FCCPC’s counsel, Daniel Amadi, informed Justice James Omotosho that the dispute had been settled out of court.

“The matter was slated for hearing, but we have filed a notice of withdrawal dated August 16,” Amadi told the court, according to a report by The Nation newspaper. “Parties have reached a settlement, and we have agreed to withdraw this suit,” he added.

Counsel for the defence, Rolake Akingbola, raised no objection to the application. Consequently, Justice Omotosho granted the request and struck out the case from the court’s docket.
