The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Thursday, expressed confidence that the ruling party will win the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in the 2027 general elections.

According to Ganduje, the APC will win not only in the presidential election but also capture the lone senatorial seat, currently occupied by Labour Party’s  Ireti Kingibe, as well as the two House of Representatives seats in the FCT.

In the 2023 presidential election, despite being the ruling party, the APC lost the FCT, the seat of power, to the Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

Obi also trounced the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in Lagos State, which is the political godfather.

However, speaking on Thursday in Abuja while receiving a huge number of defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Ganduje said the political dynamics had changed and the APC now had over 60% of the FCT under its control, guaranteeing a resounding victory in 2027.

Leading the defectors was the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Maikalangu.

According to the APC, Maikalangu crossed over to the APC alongside 12 ward councillors and over 20,000 supporters.
