WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended 33-year-old Obinna Nwigwe for allegedly shooting his friend, Andrew Philemon, following a heated argument at Najob Guest House in Bwari. The incident, described as a “disturbing case of violent crime” by FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh, occurred on December 26, 2024. Police responded to a distress call reporting gunfire and found 29-year-old Philemon critically injured from a gunshot wound. Nwigwe, armed with a pump-action rifle, claimed he acted in self-defense after the argument escalated. A subsequent search of his residence revealed an alarming cache of weapons, including five Dane guns, a single-barrel gun, an AK-47 magazine with 29 rounds, various knives, a sword stick, a taser, a bulletproof jacket, police uniforms, and more. Philemon is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja, while Nwigwe remains in police custody pending further investigation. SP Adeh emphasized the importance of vigilance and the dangers posed by illegal firearm possession, stating that the suspect will face legal consequences. The FCT Police Commissioner, Tunji Disu, also highlighted the significance of community cooperation in maintaining security. The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating violent crime and safeguarding residents.
