FCT residents will reject Wike in council election – Senator Ireti Kingibe

Ireti Kingibe and Wike

Ireti Kingibe, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the Nigerian Senate has said that residents of the territory will reject Nyesom Wike at the forthcoming council elections.

Speaking on Channels Television, Kingibe said FCT residents are dissatisfied with the minister.

According to Ireti, the Minister has failed to devote time to understand the basic needs of the people of the FCT.

She said, “When you go to Wuse and all those places where you have those high rises, it’s all pitch dark, Abuja is pitch dark, do you understand?

“So, I go to all those places, put solar lights in between to light up the place so that young people, you can’t always keep them at home and they can at least be safe.

“They come, give me awards, commend me for looking out for them. It’s not that he wouldn’t have done it too, but he doesn’t know what they need.

“I know Karu market is pitch dark, I put a light there. Communities would write to me that there’s much insecurity in this place, and a few lights would make a difference.

“Solar lights are cheap but how many can I put? For where I can put one, the Minister can put a thousand,” Ireti said.

She added that on several occasions residents of the FCT have come to her to complain about the Minister’s neglect and nonchalant attitude towards their needs.

“The truth is that the people of the FCT resent Wike. They are not happy with his attitude and his failure to meet their needs.”

“The people will show him who owns the FCT during the council polls,” the lawmaker noted.
