Fearless: The Blue Daredevil That Almost Debuted In The 2000s

Marvel’s new Daredevil and their stunning blue costume almost debuted twenty years ago. As both lawyer Matt Murdock and the vigilante Daredevil, the Man Without Fear is a symbol of redemption in Marvel’s street-level corner. But Matt isn’t Marvel’s only Daredevil.

Other characters have worn the horned mask, including Elektra Natchios, Bullseye, Iron Fist, and Spider-Man. During 2025’s Age of Revelation, the young mutant Angela Mitrache has taken up a similar mantle. With a blue Daredevil costume and mask plus her telepathic powers, Angela has claimed the moniker “Fearless” in the Revelation Territories.

A Regular-Continuity Fearless Has The Potential To Be Marvel’s Next Daredevil

Fearless is the only member of the Alpha Warriors team to make it out alive in Undeadpool #1 after the zombiefied Wade Wilson ate her teammates. Fearless has a chance to survive the Age of Revelation and continue her story in future Marvel events. However, Fearless’ biggest opportunity to become just as big a hero as Daredevil himself came and went two decades ago.

In an interview with AIPT, Undeadpool writer Tim Seeley reveals that he waited around twenty years to bring the Alpha Warriors to life. Fearless, Fantastica, Kid Man-Thing, and Magni are all a direct product of the X-Virus in Marvel canon, but originally, they were supposed to be members of the New Warriors. Tim Seeley explains:

“Honestly? They’re all from a New Warriors pitch I came up with in like 2005. True story. I’ve been keeping Kid Man-Thing in my back pocket for 20 years, guys. My idea was to have a team of “would-be sidekicks” take on the mantle — and then all die at the hands of the Grim Reaper. Fearless was part of that pitch — blue Daredevil uniform and all! So, you can see how ideas get recycled!”

If Fearless and the Alpha Warriors had debuted in the 2000s, they could have perfectly embodied the experimental, youth-driven tone Marvel was exploring with similar teams at the time. Beyond the New Warriors or a different team, Fearless would have been a fascinating ally for Matt Murdock, possibly complementing Daredevil’s hand-to-hand combat with her telepathic powers. Her earlier debut could have strengthened the New Warriors as a training ground for heroes straddling the line between street justice and big-time mutant battles.

Had Fearless debuted back then, she could have evolved alongside major Marvel events like Civil War, Shadowland, and Utopia. Fearless might have grown into a bridge between the grounded world of Daredevil and the mutant struggles of the X-Men, perhaps even training under both. Over the years, Fearless could have grown closer to Daredevil and become either a close ally or a protégé.

Marvel Needs To Keep Fearless Alive After Age Of Revelation Ends

Fearless Is The Perfect Mix Between Daredevil And Professor X

Fearless represents a truly unique fusion of skills. The young blind psychic is only beginning her journey as a hero, and she has a long way to go if she wants to do her name justice. Losing Fearless would mean losing a rare character who connects Marvel’s street-level and mutant worlds before she has the chance to fulfill her full potential.

Marvel has saved many displaced characters before. Miles Morales, Gamora, Devil Dinosaur, Hyperion, Devil Dinosaur, the Maker, and Old Man Logan have all found a second home on Earth-616 after transcending their original realities. Fearless deserves the same treatment. Angela Mitrache has the potential to become a long-term player in the main Marvel continuity despite the high probability of the Age of Revelation’s conclusion taking all new characters away with it.

If Marvel ultimately decides to erase Fearless from existence after Age of Revelation, her legacy should at least live on through Matt Murdock or Elektra Natchios. A blue Daredevil costume would be a fitting tribute to Fearless’ short-lived superhero career. Besides, Daredevil has never officially worn a fully blue suit, and Marvel Rivals‘ “Aurora Twilight” armor has already proved how stunning it can look in action.
