WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE Federal Government has authorized four airlines to serve as official air carriers for pilgrims participating in the 2025 Hajj. It was announced in a statement made yesterday by Prof. Abdullahi Usman, the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), that these airlines were chosen from among 11 companies that applied to transport Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the Muslim pilgrimage. The four approved airlines are Air Peace Ltd., Fly-Nas (a designated airline from Saudi Arabia), Max Air, and UMZA Aviation Services Ltd. Usman noted that the selection process involved a 32-member screening team established by NAHCON on November 26, 2024. He explained that the Aviation Screening Committee included representatives from the State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, three members from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and one representative each from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Additionally, members were drawn from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB). One representative each was also included from the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). Furthermore, members included NAHCON Board representatives from each geopolitical zone, along with those overseeing Aviation, Procurement, Legal, Internal Audit, Special Duties, and others from the aviation industry. Prof. Usman also mentioned that three excess cargo carriers were selected for the Hajj operations, which include Aglow Aviation Support Services Ltd, Cargozeal Technology Ltd, and Qualla Investment Ltd. He congratulated the selected companies and encouraged them to fulfill their commitments as outlined during the screening process. In addition, Prof. Usman signed the 2025 Hajj Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on behalf of the Nigerian Government. The signing ceremony took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the Kingdom was represented by Dr. Abdulfatah Masahat, the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah.
