THE Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has begun distributing 1,000 vehicle conversion kits across several states to reduce the impact of the recent fuel subsidy removal.

During a news conference in Abuja marking the start of the distribution, the Programme Director, Michael Oluwagbemi, explained that this effort aims to lower transportation costs.

He added that the initiative is expected to create over 100,000 direct jobs within the next three years by converting around three million vehicles in that period.

Oluwagbemi noted that commercial transport operators would receive free conversions, helping to further ease the effects of the fuel subsidy removal by reducing transportation expenses.

Additionally, the Warehouse Manager at the PiCN facility, Moses Onate, showcased some of the conversion kits at their warehouse in Ibafo, Ogun State.

He stated that the distribution process, operating under the code ‘First Come First Serve,’ has already seen 450 kits dispatched, with another 550 ready for distribution.

Onate urged Nigerians to support the initiative, emphasizing its potential to greatly reduce the cost of vehicle fuel.

The conversion kits are designed to allow vehicles to operate on compressed natural gas, which is both cleaner and more cost-effective than petrol.
