WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Federal Government has confirmed the successful revalidation of 2.3 million households for the ongoing Conditional Cash Transfer initiative aimed at cushioning the impact of recent economic reforms. Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, announced this during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. She stated that the exercise, carried out under the National Social Safety Nets project, has cleared over two million households for payment. “As of Tuesday, we’ve revalidated 2.3 million individuals, and payments will commence shortly. We’re working closely with other agencies to ensure the funds reach the right beneficiaries,” she said. Coker-Odusote emphasized the need for accurate identity verification to ensure proper targeting. “We don’t want to pay people who are no longer alive. It’s essential to do the right thing,” she noted. She highlighted the importance of a credible identity system, saying it allows individuals to verify their identity in real time and ensures transparency in the process.
