Friday, September 5, 2025, has been declared as a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Interior, Ms Magdalene Ajani, the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and beyond, wishing them a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
However, he urged them to reflect on the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.
He also asked Nigerians of all faiths to use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting government’s drive for unity and development.
