FG declares October 1 public holiday

THE Federal Government has announced that Tuesday, October 1, 2024, will be observed as a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended his congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad.

In a statement released yesterday by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed his admiration for the perseverance and dedication of Nigerian citizens, assuring them that their efforts will not go unrewarded.

Echoing the anniversary’s theme, the minister emphasized the importance of reflecting on the sacrifices of “our heroes past” and being motivated for the future, noting that the Nigeria of “our dreams” can only be realized through unity.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing Nigerians a Happy Independence Anniversary and encouraged continued commitment to nation-building.
