The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced an upward review of the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, effective September 1, 2025.
A.S. Akinlabi Akinlabi, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), said in a statement that the increment is aimed at sustaining the quality of the Nigerian passport.
“The review, which only affects passport application fees made in Nigeria, now sets new fee thresholds for a 32-page, with 5-year validity at N100,000 and a 64-page, with 10-year validity at N200,000.
“Meanwhile, Nigerian passport application fees made by Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for a 32-page, with 5-year validity and $230 for a 64-page, with 10-year validity,” he said.
The NIS explained that the adjustment was introduced to safeguard the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while keeping it accessible to citizens.
This latest review comes less than a year after the Federal Government approved a previous upward adjustment in August 2024, which took effect from September 1 of the same year.
At that time, the cost of the 32-page, five-year passport booklet rose from N35,000 to N50,000, while the 64-page, 10-year booklet increased from N70,000 to N100,000.
The immigration service noted then that the increment was necessary to maintain the standard of the Nigerian passport and improve service delivery.
