The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has announced plans to build 10,000 housing units for healthcare workers across Nigeria under a new initiative called Renewed Hope Medic Cities.

The spokesperson for the ministry, Salisu Haiba, disclosed this in a statement recently.

The project is a collaboration between the Ministry, the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Health, and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, alongside a public-private partnership.

Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa made the announcement during a recent meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors in Abuja.

The initiative aims to address the housing challenges faced by medical workers, who often struggle to secure suitable accommodation, particularly in urban areas with high demand for housing.

“We recognise the difficulties many healthcare workers face in securing suitable accommodation, particularly in high-demand urban centres where medical facilities are concentrated,” Dangiwa said.
