THE Federal Government has unveiled a new school curriculum set to take effect from September 2025, introducing significant changes to both Junior and Senior Secondary School education in Nigeria.

The full list of subjects became public after the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, posted an image of the curriculum on X (formerly Twitter) today.

Although the document was unsigned, Olusegun confirmed it as the official curriculum approved by the government.

According to the new structure, digital literacy and basic entrepreneurship will now be compulsory at the Junior Secondary School (JSS) level, while the Senior Secondary School (SSS) curriculum introduces advanced subjects such as programming, artificial intelligence, and new foreign languages.

Below is the full list of subjects for JSS and SSS as shared:

Physical & Health Education: Sports, fitness, nutrition, reproductive health, first aid, drug abuse awareness.

SENIOR SECONDARY (SS 1–3)

Education stakeholders say the updated curriculum reflects Nigeria’s shift toward technology-driven and globally relevant learning, preparing students for careers in emerging fields while strengthening traditional academic foundations.
