The park, which was set to be officially opened next month, was set on fire by protesters before they gained entry, as reported by Naijaonpoint Media. Following the fire, the protesters looted the facility, taking food items, furniture, mattresses, and appliances. This destruction marks a serious setback for the park’s planned initiatives. Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, expressed disappointment over the incident. He highlighted that the park was meant to support Nigeria’s technological development and host programs such as the technical talent accelerator (3MTT) and a buildathon for secondary school students. In a statement, Tijani said, “It is disheartening to see our Digital Innovation Park in Kano, which was set to play a crucial role in advancing our technological capabilities and providing job opportunities for the youth, destroyed and looted. This setback impacts our efforts to build a skilled workforce and create employment.
