Firm expands into renewable energy for sustainability

Smart Energies Limited has expanded into renewable energy solutions, committing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

According to a statement, the energy company, known for clean cooking solutions and liquefied petroleum gas distribution, is diversifying into renewable energy technologies to bridge Nigeria’s energy access gap.

Chief Executive Officer of Smart Energies Limited, Dr. Yinka Opeke, said the company’s expansion aligns with its mission to promote energy inclusivity, reduce carbon emissions, and empower communities.

“Our expansion into renewable energy is a testament to our dedication to providing cleaner, more affordable, and accessible energy solutions. We are committed to innovation and collaboration to drive positive change in Nigeria’s energy landscape,” Opeke remarked.

The firm emphasised that it has transitioned more than 300,000 households from solid fuels and kerosene to LPG in over 80 years of combined industry experience.

Smart Energies added that it is integrating solar and other sustainable energy solutions, offering diverse options for households and businesses seeking cleaner alternatives as part of its renewable energy expansion.

Further, the firm noted that Smart Gas Foundation, its corporate social responsibility arm, continues to promote clean energy adoption through advocacy and community empowerment.

“Driving impact through advocacy is a priority for us. The foundation has donated free gas cylinders, conducted safety education campaigns, and partnered with organisations to promote cleaner cooking solutions,” Smart Energies’ CEO declared.

He added that through advocacy and direct community support, the firm was making clean energy accessible to vulnerable populations across Nigeria.
