WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adelabu Adedeji, has put to rest speculations about his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027. Adedeji, who had previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State from 2011 to 2015, has been touted as one of the prominent personalities likely to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde. Makinde’s two terms as governor will end in 2027. However, Adedeji has said that he has no intention of joining the governorship race. He emphasized that he wants to focus on his current task as the head of FIRS, a position he has held since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in September 2023. “I want to use this opportunity to respond to the numerous requests and speculations about my intention to contest the governorship election in Oyo State in 2027,” Adedeji said. “I, Zacch Adedeji, will not contest for the governorship election in 2027. I know a lot of people would not be happy about this, but everybody knows the responsibility and grace that God has given to us.”
