The Huawei P70 series is not even official yet, and the very first Huawei P80 info is already surfacing. According to a Huawei P80 rumor, the device will pack in an outstanding main camera sensor.

First and foremost, do note that this info comes from Jason2025, a Weibo tipster. This is not exactly our usual source of such information, so take this info with a grain of salt.

The Huawei P80 series could include an outstanding main camera with advanced CMOS technology

With that in mind, the tipster claims that the Huawei P80 will feature OmniVision’s OV50X sensor. That sensor did not launch yet but it will allegedly have advanced CMOS technology and manufacturing process. It will presumably be a 1-inch type sensor.

That’s basically everything we know thus far. The Huawei P70, on the other hand, is tipped to utilize either the OmniVision OV50H or the Sony IMX989 sensor. Either way, it will be a 1-inch type sensor.

Huawei’s upcoming flagship series of smartphones is also expected to offer variable aperture on the main camera. In addition to that, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera is also expected.

The Huawei P70 series will launch either later this month, or in April

Huawei is expected to launch its P70 series smartphones in the near future. Some sources claimed they’re coming in March, others in April. It could go both ways, as the Huawei P60 series arrived on March 23 last year.

Do note that the devices will almost certainly launch in China first, and then make their way to other markets. They’re coming to Europe almost certainly, even though Huawei has not confirmed anything just yet.

Huawei is expected to announce three Huawei P70 smartphones, at the very least. Not all of them will go global, most probably, but it remains to be seen. The ‘Art’ model will likely be the most powerful model.
