First Lady Distributes N50,000 Grants to 500 Women Entrepreneurs
The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), has empowered 500 women in Nasarawa State, each receiving fifty thousand naira (N50,000) to support their small businesses. The beneficiaries were drawn from all 13 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.
Speaking during the disbursement, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Mrs. Tosin Shilla Akabe, wife of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, explained that the program is designed to encourage women entrepreneurship and uplift communities. She emphasized that the funds are grants, not loans, intended to recapitalize existing small businesses.
Senator Tinubu also highlighted TEF’s contribution of one billion naira (N1bn) to RHI, which will directly support 18,500 women nationwide, reflecting a strong commitment to women’s empowerment and small business growth.
The wife of the Nasarawa State governor, Mrs. Silifat Sule, urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to sustain themselves and their families. On behalf of the women, Miss Jemimah Abari expressed gratitude for the initiative and prayed for more opportunities to impact women across Nigeria.
