The first set of photos from Here Comes the Flood have been revealed. Netflix’s highly anticipated heist movie will unite two singular talents – Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson. During a recent interview promoting his new movie, Die My Love, Pattinson revealed that he started filming Here Comes the Flood “this week in New York.”

The photos show Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson in Bloomfield, New Jersey, holding scripts and preparing for a scene, dressed in casual and weather-appropriate outerwear. Directed by Oscar nominee Fernando Meirelles (City of God), with a script written by Oscar nominee Simon Kinberg (The Martian), Here Comes the Flood follows a “bank guard, a teller, and a master thief in a deadly game of cons and double crosses,” the official synopsis reads, which also describes it as “an unconventional heist movie.”
Led by Robert Pattinson and two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington (Glory, Training Day), the cast also includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, a BAFTA nominee for Normal People, who is also well-known for her roles in Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) and Twisters (2024). The supporting cast includes Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible), Moises Arias (Fallout), and Emmy nominee Justin Kirk (Angels in America).
Robert Pattinson is no newcomer to Netflix, having previously starred in The King (2019) and The Devil All the Time (2020). The same is true for Fernando Meirelles, who directed the Netflix film The Two Popes (2019).
However, Here Comes the Flood marks the first time Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in a Netflix film, though the former has produced projects such as Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020) and The Piano Lesson (2024).
Here Comes the Flood has experienced several changes in recent years, with Jason Bateman initially set to direct in 2021 and Robert Downey Jr. once considered for a role. Still, the latest version keeps Simon Kinberg’s original screenplay intact.
Filming in New Jersey is expected to continue until January 2026. If production wraps on time, a late 2026 release on Netflix seems likely for Here Comes the Flood.
